Two tourists got the scare of a lifetime when a bear and her cub made a visit to their cabin. Megan and Shawn Speck, of Cottontown, Tennessee, were vacationing at the Lost Creek Cabins in Reliance when Megan found a bear in a nearby barn during a walk with her dogs.
When Megan heard a noise and turned around to investigate, she saw a bear coming around the corner of the barn. Her dog, Mojo, ran towards the bear, placing himself in front of Megan. When Mojo collided with the bear, he was bitten and scratched on his back and chest. As Mojo lay on the ground, the bear stepped over him and came towards Meagan, who had fallen when Mojo ran off.
As the bear came closer to Megan, she used Mojo’s leash as a weapon, slapping the handle of the dog’s leash against the bear’s nose. After being hit, the bear retreated with its cub.
When TWRA was called, they managed to capture the bear, but were unable to find its cub.
