ST. PETERSBURG CHOIR CONCERT Lyra will present a concert at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Blue Ridge, on Saturday, April 28, at 7 pm. The first half of the concert will feature sacred music of the Russian Orthodox Church, The second half will feature Russian folk songs. In between selections, Sergey Turpitsyn, the choir’s director, will give a lively description of each piece and discuss Russian customs and music. The Monroe County Historical meeting will be held Thursday, May 3, 7 p.m. at Ft. Loudoun State Historic Area Visitor Center. The speaker will be local writer, humorist, and historian Larry Smothers. The Miss Sunshine Pageant will be held Saturday May 5th at the Benton Elementary School Auditorium beginning at 10 am.  All girls ages 0-18 years old are encouraged to participate.
