Man struck by train
A man traveling through the area during a hitchhiking quest along the east coast with a friend was struck and killed last weekend by a CSX train near the intersection of Hwy 411 and Hwy 64. Russell Ball, Jr., of Fayetteville, Arkansas was found March 10 after having been struck by a southbound train. He was reportedly walking along the tracks.
According to a report filed by the Polk County Sheriff’s Department, Ball’s traveling companion said the two were journeying across the east coast one last time before Ball had to undergo some medical procedures. Dr. David Darden was called to the scene and pronounced the victim dead near railroad milepost 353 in Ocoee.
