The season ended for the Copper Basin Cougars in a play-in game in the District 5-A tournament as Basin lost to the Silverdale Seahawks 65-42. This was a game which the Cougars had to win to get into the regular tournament, but unfortunately, it was not to be. The loss ended the season for the Cougars who had a final record of 10 wins and 17 losses. It also ended the basketball careers for four Basin seniors: Matt Ray, Seth Womble, Caleb Collins, and Deven Love.
Dylan Boggs led the Cougars in scoring with 17 points, but was the only Basin player in double figures. Dale Ray had 9 for Basin. Silverdale was led in scoring by Justin Ragsdale with 19 points, while Steven Pemberton had 12 and Spencer Mossburg, John Hall and Nate Jackson had 10 each.
The Cougars seem to be in control of the game in the first half as they led 16-12 at the end of the first quarter. Boggs had 10 of his points in the first quarter. At the end of the first half Basin still managed to stay ahead of the Seahawks, being on top 27-23 lead going into the locker room.
As they second half opened, Basin looked as if they were going to keep their first half pace as they matched baskets for the first 4 minutes. But, that is when the wheels literally fell off the wagon for the Cougars. With 4 minutes left in the third quarter, Silverdale took their first lead of the game at 32-30 and went on a 12-0 run to close out the quarter leading 40-30. The Cougars could only manage 3 points in that quarter and when the fourth quarter opened, it seemed that the lid stayed on the Basin basket. Silverdale went on in the final quarter to outscore the Cougars 25-12 to win going away. The Cougars, in their final second half, could manage only 15 points.
Silverdale-65 Mossburg 10, Ragsdale 19, Turner 1, Pemberton 12, Hall 10, Delashmint 2, Boggess 1, Jackson 10.
