Gem talent showcase Aug. 29
The Gem Players will present their annual talent showcase Aug. 29 and 30 at 7:30 p.m. at the historic Gem Theater in Etowah, TN. Tickets for the event are $5 for adults and $3 for children ten years or under and may be purchased at the door one hour before showtime. Proceeds from the showcase will go to the ongoing restoration of the theater.
“We will continue to promote and nurture the talent in the surrounding areas by sponsoring this showcase and donating the proceeds to the preservation of the town’s historic landmark”, says director LaMone Rose. The showcase is directed by Rose, Ruth Sowers and with choreography by Tina Jenkins.
The theme for this year’s show is WE’VE GOT TALENT! Over 40 youth will perform on the Gem stage beginning with a number from the popular High School Musical. Masters of Ceremonies for the evenings will be shared by Zackary Arms and Koltin Thompson. Both are students at McMinn Central High and perform with the Gem Players. The year’s two act showcase will include individual vocalists, duets, contemporary Christian bands, magician act, dance, a seven year old violinist and an eight year old pianist and a few surprise acts. Those youth participating are from the McMinn area and include T.K King, Drew Byers, Abby Songer, Logan Early, Tyler Munger, Ryan Blanchett, Courtney Garland, Caleb Bates, Daniel Fifield, Samuel Reeves, Michael Murphy, Allysyn Bates, Amber Murphy, Summer Poteet, Candice Bales, Hunter Sutherland, Carrie Kramer, Mike Pilkey, Raven Kyle, Chilhowee Dance and the McMinn High School Dance Team.
