Mark Stone joins the School Board members who fired him
Mark Stone will soon be sitting at the table with the School Board members who fired him last year, and Carlton Deal will end a 16-year tenure on the Board. Stone was the stop vote-getter in the Third District School Board race with 419, followed by L.W. Smith with 400. Deal came in last with 306; Stoney Standridge got 347 votes. Incumbent David Hyatt did not seek re-election.
Another incumbent was beaten in the Second District, as Russ Swafford got 254 votes to defeat Grady Samples, with 151. Ken Dickens got 101.
In the First District, incumbents Jayson Lamb,531 votes, and Tracy McAbee, 526, easily defeated Tom Hunt, 276.
For the Fourth Fractional Township, the first new slate in years will be made up of Craig Green, Ronnie O’Neal and Daren Waters.
In countywide races, Randy Yates easily defeated Davis Dishman to keep his position as Assessor of Property. Road Superintendent Harold Hood was unopposed.
Frankie Womble defeated Cody Farner for Third District constable, the only constable race.
