Missions team visits Boys & Girls Club
The Eagle Ranch Missions Team visited the Boys and Girls club of Benton, Tennessee in July. Team members consisted of Ducktown resident and Eagle Ranch Senior Leader, Tiffany Newman, students and adult leaders of Beverly Hills Community Church in Beverly Hills, Florida. The group was invited to join in with the day's activities of team games, singing and skits.
Several weeks earlier St. Mark's Lutheran Church from Auburn, Indiana led by youth leader Cassandra Truelove visited Eagle Ranch. They brought a large amount of school supplies to be distributed to the youth at the Boys and Girls Club of Benton. They were so busy funishing much needed home repair projects in the community that they were unable to make the presentation to the children themselves so they left the supplies with Eagle Ranch Senior Leader, Tiffany Newman, to be distributed at a later date. With Ms. Newman's facilitation mission team members of Beverly Hills Community Church picked up where St. Mark's left off and delivered the supplies to the Benton boys and girls. The school supplies added even more excitement to the day's activities. "It was so much fun to get to hang out with younger children" , exclaimed Devin Smith from Beverly Hills. "I will miss these guys", said Nina Maddox. ''The experience changed a lot of people's hearts", Tiffany Newman stated.
Since 1994, The Eagle Ranch Missions Team has repaired hundreds of homes for residents of Polk County, logged over 50,000 man hours of trail work in the Cherokee National Forest and provided many days of happiness to children at local Vacation Bible Schools, foster children programs and to members of our older generation at senior centers and nursing homes. Another favorite uplifting project of Eagle Ranch visiting groups is interacting with the homeless at area shelters and soup kitchens.
The Eagle Ranch Missions Team effort is funded with income from Ocoee River whitewater rafting trips provided by The Eagle Adventure Company based in Polk County.
