Loma Jewel Cavender, age 73, of Ducktown, TN passed away on Tuesday, August 5, 2008 at her home. Born in Polk County, TN she was the daughter of the late George William and Minnie Nicholson Cole. Mrs. Cavender was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved everyone unconditionally with a great heart known to many. She loved to cook, listen to Gospel Music and attend Maple Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of fifty four years, Hoyt Cavender of the home; three daughters and one son-in-law, Deborah and Roger Hall of Copperhill, TN, Janice Cavender of Epworth, GA, Erica Cavender and her son R.J. Cavender of Ducktown, TN; brother, Charles Cole of Stansbury Community; sister, Betty J. Ivey of Lilburn, GA; grandchildren, David Jones and wife Lisa of Shooting Creek, NC, James A. Cavender of Ducktown, TN, Dana M. Jones of Copperhill, TN and Jaclyn Cavender Russell and husband Ricky of Old Fort, IN; great grandchildren, Devin Jones, Daniel and Leela Russell.
Funeral services were conducted Friday August 8, at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of the Akins Funeral Home of Copperhill with Rev. Kenneth Montgomery officiating. Interment followed in the Crestlawn cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Matthew Cole, Jeff Barker, Tim Davis, Jimmy Cook, Donnie Brown, and Jonathan Allen. The Staff of the Copper Basin Medical Center and the Life Care Home Health Services served as an Honorary Escort. Akins Funeral Home of Copperhill is in charge of the arrangements.
