Mrs. Mary Kate Arp, age 93, of McCaysville, GA, passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at the Fannin Regional Hospital. She was born Friday, August 7, 1914 in Maryville, TN to the late Andrew "Dell" Angel and the late Catherine Chapman Angel. Mary was a member of the McCaysville Church of Christ, and was an employee of the Tennessee Copper Company for many years working as a sales lady at the Smelter Store. She was preceded in death by first husband, George Weese, Sr. and second husband, E.P. Arp.
Survivors include: son, George K. Weese, of Morganton, GA, daughter, Joan W. Turner of Gainesville, GA, three grandchildren, Alan M. Turner, Melanie L. Tack, and Leigh Ann Paschall, and thirteen great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday Aug. 3, at 2:30 p.m. from the Finch-Cochran Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Bill Johntson officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Alan M. Turner, Kenneth White, Jerry E. Angel Sr., R. Keith Paschall, Jack J. Hester and Buster Fowler. Honorary pallbearers were Robert G. Weese, Don Loudermilk, Marvin Hyde, Don Styles, Keith Ballew, Bill Dalton, James L. Panter, and men of the McCaysville Church of Christ. Interment followed in the Church of Christ Cemetery. The Finch-Cochran Funeral Home of McCaysville, Georgia was entrusted with the arrangements.
