John Roy Wilcoxon, age 66, of Century, FL, passed away Sunday, July 27, 2008 at his home. He was a native of Old Fort and a resident of Century, FL for 30 years coming from Montevallo, AL. He was a member of Buck Creek Lodge 410 of Alabaster, AL, the Retired Teamsters Union #991 in Mobile, AL, and of Poplar Dell Baptist Church in Century. He worked the last eight years for Miller Transportation as a truck driver. He is preceded in death by his father, Glenn Wilcoxon, his brother, Luther, his sister, Marie and his son, Brad.
Survivors include: mother, Stella Wilcoxon of Old Fort; wife, Gracie Wilcoxon of Century, FL; son, Scobie L. Wilcoxon, of Houston, TX; brother, Andy Wilcoxon of Chattanooga; sisters, Nancy Wilcoxon of Old Fort and Mary Lott of Charleston, SC; 6 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be at Poplar Dell Baptist Church Wednesday, July 30, 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Robert Candy & Rev. Mitch Herring officiating. Interment followed at Poplar Dell Cemetery in Century, FL. Pallbearers will be: Casey Wilcoxon, Scobie L. Wilcoxon, Jr., John Garner, Carl Gandy, Theodore Creamer, Gene Findley. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Masonic Lodge Members. Flomaton Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
